Obituary

Wayne Boyd, 78, a resident of Hale county since 1907 died Thursday afternoon in Heritage Home following a lengthy illness. Services are set for 11 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church, with David Ray, assistant pastor officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery with Lemon?s Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Boyd was born April 7, 1904 in Frederick, Okla., and moved to Hale county with his parents in 1907. He was married to LaVey Lamb in Amhurst Dec 19, 1933. They moved to Plainview in 1937.

Mr. Boyd had been a farmer in the Plainview area until his retirement. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and had served on the administrative board of the church. He had also served on the Board of Trustees of Plainview Independent School District, and has been a member of the Plainview Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

Survivors are his wife, two sons, Gene Boyd of Tishomingo, Okla., and Richard Boyd of New York, N.Y.; two brothers Vernon Boyd of Soquil, Calif., and Grady Boyd of Plainview; and five grandchildren.
