Funeral services for Gregory Lane "Cheese" Borchardt, 41, of Hale Center will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2010, in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Cameron, Dr. Carrol Green and Silas Short officiating. Burial will follow in Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Hale Center. After suffering a massive brain hemorrhage Saturday evening, Greg was serenaded by angels up to the throne Tuesday evening, June 29, 2010. Greg was born Oct. 6, 1968, in Brownfield. He graduated from Hale Center High School in 1987. He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he served as an usher. He married Jana Boyles on March 17, 2001, in Lubbock. Greg served the Hale Center community by volunteering for the Hale Center Fire Department and was a member of the Living Water Emmaus. He was employed by Hale County and was an avid NASCAR fan. He is survived by his wife, Jana Borchardt of Hale Center; parents, Roy and Elwanda Borchardt of Hale Center; a brother and sister-in-law, Berry and Tracey Borchardt of Odessa; and three uncles and aunts, Dean and Betty Carver and Sid and Janis Berry, all of Hale Center, and John and Nina Berry of Plainview.
