Obituary

Nolan Paul Bontke, 63, of Kress, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013. Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at First Baptist Church Family Life Chapel with Dr. Tim Marrow officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Bontke was born on Feb. 28, 1950, in Plainview, Texas, to Joe and Elfriede Marie Bontke. He married Janet Eyvonne O'Rear on May 31, 1975, in Clovis, N.M. He graduated from Kress High School and attended West Texas State. He farmed for 20 years and was a truck driver for 22 years. Mr. Bontke loved camping and NASCAR and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Plainview. He is survived by his wife, Janet Bontke of Kress; one daughter, Summer Land and husband Casey of McKinney; one son, Josh Bontke and wife Kara of Lubbock; two sisters, Elaine Norrell of Plainview and Eleanor Jarnigan of Carlsbad; one brother, Richard Bontke of Mansfield; and four grandchildren, Kaden Bontke, Jackson Land, Hagen Land and Izzy Bontke. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Little Elfriede Bontke.
