Obituary

Elfriede Marie Bontke, 94, of Plainview passed away Dec. 12, 2010. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gerald Boerger officiating. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. in Plainview Cemetery under the direction of Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Elfriede was born Aug. 4, 1916, in Hauswalde, Germany, to Edwin and Bertha Kaiser Zschiedrich. She attended school in Abilene. Elfriede married Joe A.H. Bontke Jr. on July 21, 1937, in Abilene, Texas. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Elfriede was preceded in death her by her husband, Joe A.H. Bontke, in 1974; five brothers; and one daughter, Little Elfriede, in 1941. She is survived by her sons, Richard Bontke and his wife, Sue, of Mansfield, Texas, and Nolan Bontke and his wife, Janet, of Plainview; daughters, Elaine Norrell and her husband, Stewart, of Plain?view and Eleanor Jarnagin and her husband, Jerry, of Carlsbad, N.M.; 11 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
