Obituary

Carl John Bontke, 76, of Plainview, Texas, passed away on Monday, Nov. 17, 2014. Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Carl John Bontke at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at Kornerstone Funeral Chapel with Pastor Michael Heckman officiating. Carl was born April 25, 1938, in Abilene, Texas, to John Frank Bontke and Gertrude Marie Eifert. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1956. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1958 and served on the USS Wilkes. In addition he was a member of the Color Guard. He was a longtime farmer in the community. Carl was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Lawrence P. Bontke from Lubbock; and a sister Viola G. Smith from Temple, Texas. Survivors include his loving wife Dana Jo Hughes Bontke; three children, Carla Moore and her husband Ricky of San Angelo, Jana Kelley and her husband Blake of Celina, Texas, and a son Justin Bontke of Dallas; and three wonderful grandchildren, Mikayla Moore, Madison Kelley and Morgan Kelley.
