Funeral services for Howard Eugene Boatman, 90, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lemons Funeral Home Chapel with Colquitt Nash, minister of Ninth and Columbia Church of Christ, and Johnny McDonald officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Boatman died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006, in Plainview Care Center. He was born July 23, 1916, in Louis, Ind., to Henry Eldon Boatman and Blanche Marie Walker Boatman. He moved to West Texas with his family in the early 1930s and farmed in the Vigo Park area before moving to Plainview. He married Mary Ivalene Bumbalough on Feb. 22, 1957. He was a carpenter and painter in Plainview for many years before retiring. He was a longtime member of Ninth and Columbia Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren. His first wife, Thelma; an infant daughter, Rita Boatman; a son, Harold Boatman; a sister, Helen Boatman; and a brother, Willard Boatman, are deceased.
