Obituary

Funeral services for Troy Birdsong, 83, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Garland Street Church of Christ with Russell Harris of Garland Street Church of Christ, Michael Crowley of Matador Church of Christ and Steve Stokes officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mr. Birdsong died Friday, Oct. 20, 2006. He was born Oct. 1, 1923, in Lamar County to John Wesley and Mary Garrett Birdsong. He came to Plainview in 1942 from Lamar County and was a member of Garland Street Church of Christ and Texas Ground Water Association. He worked for Green Machinery Company since 1942. He married Rosalie Freeman Birdsong on Feb. 15, 1991, in Plainview. Survivors include his wife; a son, Terry Leon Birdsong of Lewisville; two sisters, Clara Kirby of Artesia, N.M., and Dessie McNeely of Pittsburg; and one brother, Luther Birdsong of Amarillo. A sister, Gracie Springfield; and four brothers, John, Jess, Dock and Joe Birdsong are deceased.
