Graveside services for former Plainview resident Marie Parkey Bier, 93, of San Angelo will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, in Plainview Memorial Park with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.

Arrangements are by Johnson?s Funeral Home of San Angelo.

Mrs. Bier died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, in San Angelo.

She was born Sept. 10, 1909, to Mr. And Mrs. W.C. Parkey on a farm near Blake, Greer County, Okla.

At age 5, she moved by covered wagon with her parents and two sisters to a ranch 30 miles west of Portales, N.M. As World War I progressed, the family moved back to Oklahoma and later moved to a farm in Floyd County, Texas.

She graduated from Floydada High School and attended Wayland Baptist College for two years. She married J. Oliver Bier on Aug. 25, 1929, in Plainview.

Mrs. Bier was a member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for 29 years. She and her husband moved to San Angelo in 1988 and became active in the Baptist Memorial Geriatric Center Auxiliary. They also were members of Eastern Star.

Mrs. Bier also taught school in Plainview for several years.

Her husband died March 28, 1994, at Baptist Memorial.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Marie and Dick Robinson of Georgetown; one sister and brother-in-law, Lene, and H.V. Lynch; three grandchildren and their spouses, Dr. John and Sue Robinson of Cincinnati, Ohio, Richard M. And Alyson Robinson of St. Louis, Mo., and Mary Kay and David Knoll of Centerville, Ohio; nine great-grandchildren, Tanner, Katie and Julianna Robinson of Cincinnati, Garett, Austin, Connor and Logan Knoll of Centerville, and Caroline and Evan Robinson of St. Louis; a niece; and two nephews.

The family suggests memorials to Baptist Memorial Center, Baptist Memorial Auxiliary or First Baptist Church.
