Obituary

Funeral services for Neoma Strickland Berry, 84, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Carroll Green officiating. Burial will be in Hale Center Cemetery by Freeman-Abell Funeral Home. Mrs. Berry died Saturday, March 5, 2005, in Prairie House Living Center in Plainview. She was born April 27, 1920, in Haskell to John Farrell and Lizzie Strickland. She married A.S. "Mutt" Berry on Jan. 30, 1937. He died March 1, 1990. She moved to Hale Center from Lamesa in 1951 and worked alongside her husband farming and in the cotton ginning business. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Elwanda and Roy Borchardt of Hale Center; two sons and daughters-in-law, Sidney and Janis Berry of Hale Center and John and Nina Berry of Plainview; eight grandsons; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A daughter, Beth Short, is deceased.
