Obituary

Martha Lee Bentley, 88, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2015. Memorial services will be held at noon Monday, May 11, 2015, at Kornerstone Funeral Chapel. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mrs. Bentley was born on March 30, 1927, in Hale Center, Texas, to Thomas Lee and Martha Ruth Carrell. She married James H. Bentley on May 18, 1947, in Hale Center, Texas. He preceded her in death on May 12, 2014. Martha graduated from Hale Center High School and moved to Plainview in 1962 and worked for Plainview ISD for 30 years. She was active in the Exodus Prison Ministry, Meals on Wheels, Faith In Sharing House and was a member of the United States Tennis Association, the Texas Tennis Association and First Baptist Church. Mrs. Bentley is survived by one son: Rick Bentley and wife Darenda of Tulia, Texas; one daughter: Christi Morris and husband Rusty of Post, Texas; three sisters: Wanda Williams of Lubbock, Pat Mitchell of Houston and Cheryl Mull of Plainview; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother. Memorials may be made to U.M.C. Children's Miracle Network or Hale County Meals on Wheels.
