Obituary

James H. Bentley, 89, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2014. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2014, at Kornerstone Chapel with Mr. Danny Andrews officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Bentley was born on Jan. 22, 1925, in Lubbock to Homer D. and Ethel V. Frazier Bentley. He married Martha Lee Carrell on May 18, 1947, in Hale Center, Texas. Mr. Bentley served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked as a teacher and coach for Plainview ISD for 32 years as well as Shallowater ISD and Kress ISD. He was a probation officer for 10 years. Mr. Bentley was a certified Reserve Law Enforcement Officer and a Texas Certified Driving Instructor. He was a member of the Texas State Teachers Association, Classroom Teachers Association, Southwest Officials Association, Plainview Officials Association, Lubbock Officials Association, R.S.V.P. and First Baptist Church. Mr. Bentley is survived by his wife Martha Lee Bentley; one son, Rick Bentley and wife Darenda of Tulia; one daughter, Christi Morris and husband Rusty of Post, Texas; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Memorials may be made to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, P.O.
