Obituary
Cleo Bennett, 92, of Plainview, passed away on Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, in Plainview. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Tim Marrow officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Bennett was born June 24, 1920, in Hale Center, Texas, to William Ellis and Ruby Garner Robinson. She was raised in the Running Water community. She married Melvin L. Bennett of April 20, 1940, in Lockney, Texas. They moved to California for two years where Melvin worked on aircraft during WWII and later moved back to Plainview and farmed for the next 36 years. Mrs. Bennett was active in 4-H, Pink Ladies, Senior Citizens and Good Sam Camper Club. She loved to sew and cook, but most of all she loved her family. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was active in all areas of the church and taught Sunday school. She is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin L. Bennett, her parents, one brother and one sister. She is survived by one son, Randy Bennett and wife Mary K. of Plainview; one daughter, Melveta Roberts and husband Ron of Plainview; one sister, Christine Bennett of Plainview; one brother, Ralph Robinson and wife Ima of Tahoka; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
