Obituary
Herman Bedwell, 82, of Lubbock, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at Plainview Memorial Park in Plainview with Mr. Oscar Chavez, Area Community Hospice chaplain, officiating. Services are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. There will be a visitation on Monday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Kornerstone. Herman was born on March 3, 1932 Quitaque, Texas, to Henry Boggs and Amy Gore Bedwell. He grew up in Morton, graduated from Morton High School and attended Texas Tech University. He worked in the family businesses, Bedwell Implement, Pontiac dealership and farming. He was a music director at First Missionary Baptist Church and volunteered on the Morton Fire Department. He moved to Plainview, Texas, in 1972 where he was a spray pilot as well as a pilot for Hutcherson-Miller Flying Service. He owned Village Shop, Young Duds and Silver Stork clothing stores. He married Sandra Bridwell on March 6, 1990, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and they moved to Lubbock in 1993. There he had his own Sign and Glass-Etching business. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Randall Bedwell, a brother Eugene Bedwell and two sisters, Estelee Bedwell and Henrietta Taylor. She is survived by one daughter, Rita Kay Stevens and her husband Steve from Amarillo, Texas ; a son Ronnie Bedwell and his wife Tara of Memphis, Tennessee; a stepdaughter, Krista Lee Torres and her husband Nigel of Lubbock; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Bedwell of Lubbock; three grandchildren, Brandon Bedwell and Natalie and Nathan Mares.
