Refugia Barrera Refugia Barrera, age 86, of Plainview, passed away on June 12, 2015, in Lubbock. An evening memorial service was held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2015, at the Lemons Funeral Chapel. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at Primera Iglesia Bautista in Plainview. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Lemons Funeral Home. Refugia Maria (Macias) was born on July 4, 1928, in Bremond, Texas, to Filemon and Librada (Hernandez) Macias. In 1947, she married Jesus Barrera and the couple had 15 children. Refugia was a homemaker and a faithful member of Abundant Grace Church of Plainview. She is survived by her sons, Juan Barerra and Jose (Joe) Barrera; her daughters, Olivia Barrera, Florinda B. Jackson, Consuelo Paik, Estefana Martinez, Dora B. Mireles, Olga Barrera and Rosa Linda Alvarez; her sister, Maria Macias Palencia; and her 41 grandchildren and 56 great-grandchildren. Refugia was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus; her sons, Ruben, Ruben, and George Barrera; and her daughters, Yolanda Barrera and Estella Rincones.
