Funeral services for George "Bar" Barrera, 52, of Plainview will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lemons Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Joe Barrera, pastor of Abundant Grace Baptist Church, officiating. A prayer service will be from 7-9 p.m. today at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Mr. Barrera died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, in Lubbock. He was born Aug. 28, 1959, in Mercedes to Jesus and Refugia Barrera. He moved with his parents to Plainview and attended Plainview High School. He married Eloisa Salazar in Plainview. He was a mechanic and worked for Bookers Transport. He was a member of Abundant Grace Baptist Church in Plainview. Survivors include his wife; six sons, Jacob Barrera, Jake Barrera, Andrew Barrera, Marc Barrera, Esteban Cervantes and Chris Barrera; three daughters, Stephanie Barrera, Melanie Barrera and Sara Barrera; his mother; two brothers, Joe Barrera of Plainview and Juan Barrera of Amarillo; seven sisters, Olivia Barrera, Florinda Jackson, Rosalinda Alvarez and Connie Paik, all of California, Dora Mireles of Littlefield and Estefana Martinez and Olga Barrera, both of Amarillo; six half-brothers; and two half-sisters.
