Funeral Mass for Asencion Barrera, 80, of Plainview will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Reymundo Manriquez officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Mr. Barrera died Monday, April 5, 2010, in Plainview. He was born Aug. 15, 1929, in Chihuahua, Mexico, to Benencio and Fransisca Barrera. In 1963 he was a reserve deputy for Hale County. He was a charro and served as a communion minister at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Survivors include his wife, Martha Barrera; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Sylvia Barrera and Lupe and Davlin Barrera, all of Plainview; one daughter, Janie Rivera of Houston; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
