Barnes, Charles Watts (C.W.), Mrs. (Willo Dene Cornett Overby)

Funeral services for Dene Overby Barnes, 78, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Meacham, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Hale Center Cemetery by Freeman-Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center.

Mrs. Barnes died Friday, March 24, 2000, in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.

She was born Jan. 22, 1924, in Munday and moved to Hale Center in 1944 from Knox County. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She married C.W. Barnes on June 18, 1980, in Littlefield.

Surviving are her husband; two sons, Jessie Leon Overby of Denton and Michael Overby of Hale Center; a brother, George Cornett of Hale Center; seven sisters, Marie Lewis, Nell Rogers and Jeanette Steen, all of Hale Center, Jean Curry of Tahoka, Sylvia Shackelford of Cotton Center, Mary Ancheta of Pacific Grove, Calif. and Estelle Erwin of Grand Prairie; four grandsons, Brent, Steven, and Brandon Overby and Jerry Don Thompson; a grand-daughter, Brandi Overby; a great-grandson, Jerry Don Thompson; and an aunt, Ruby Gulley of Hale Center.

The family suggests memorials to the Hale Center Senior Citizens Association, Box 205, Hale Center, TX 79041.
