Obituary

Services for Bobby Barnes, 81, of Cotton Center, Texas, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at First Baptist Church in Cotton Center, Texas, with the Rev. J.D. Templeton, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow services in Center Plains Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center, Texas. Mr. Barnes died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, in Plainview, Texas.

He was born Jan. 29, 1927, in Cottle County, Paducah, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army and farmed in the Cotton Center area. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cotton Center.

He is survived by three brothers, O.L. Barnes and his wife, Marcie, of Dripping Springs, Texas, Alton Barnes and his wife, Frances, of Floydada, Texas, and Bill Barnes and his wife, Cora, of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Glenda Barrett and her husband, Calvin, of Cotton Center, Texas; and nieces and nephews who loved him very much. The family suggests memorials be sent to a favorite charity.
