Barker, Edwin Almon

Funeral services for Edwin Barker, 86, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart, Pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home.

Mr. Barker died at 7:13 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, in Hi-Plains Nursing Center in Hale Center.

He was born Nov. 6, 1913, in Comanche. He grew up and attended schools in Turkey and moved to Plainview in 1942. He was a retired farmer and a member of First Baptist Church.

He married Violet K. Burns on April 3, 1937, in Turkey.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dr. Gary Lynn Barker of Lubbock and Dr. Tommy Barker of Stephenville; one brother, Bill Barker of Levelland; one sister, Thora Nieman of Muleshoe; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
