Obituary

Funeral services for Randy Ballinger, 51, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Trinity Fellowship Church with the Rev. Steve Rogers, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Ballinger died at 6:42 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2002, in Covenant Hospital in Lubbock. He was born May 11, 1950 in Amarillo. He graduated from Perryton High School in 1968 and attended Amarillo College X-ray school. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1969 and served for 13 years. He was stationed on the USS Saratoga during the Vietnam War and was in Naples, Italy for three years. He was a pharmacist technician inJacksonville, Fla. until 1986 when he returned to Plainview and worked for KKYN Radio for nine years. He worked for Gebo's as assistant manager and was corporate buyer for five years. He was director of RSVP for one year and was correctional officer for the Formby Wheeler Complex the last six months. He was a member of Trinity Fellowship Church and a volunteer for food relief for Iowa during a crisis there. He was a volunteer for the Vietnam Wall when it was brought to Plainview. On Jan. 20, 1992, he married Arlene Aven in Reno, Nev. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Frances Raphel "Reggie" Ballinger of Plainview; his parents, Bill and Nan Ballinger of Amarillo; and an aunt, Sue Bathrop of Slidell. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. today at Lemons Funeral Home and suggests memorials to Trinity Fellowship Church Building Fund.
