Obituary

Funeral services for Jean D. Ballinger, 79, were at 10 a.m. today at Lemons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donnie Peal officiating. Burial was in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Ballinger died Thursday, July 27, 2006, at Covenant Hospital Plainview. She was born Jan. 7, 1927, in Hale Center to Hardy Lee Dent Sr. and Clara Anne Allen Dent. She married L.M. Ballinger on May 28, 1971, in Lubbock. She worked at Plainview Co-op Compress as secretary and bookkeeper for nine years. She later worked at the cable company for four years until retiring. She was a longtime member of RSVP and Northside Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Dennis Lee Jones of Houston, Michael David Jones of Plainview and J. Keith Jones of Cotton Center; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; one sister-in-law, Juanita Dent of Hale Center; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her parents; two sisters, Clara Lou Wardlaw and Lilly May Stanton; and one brother, Hardy Lee Dent Jr., are deceased. The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association.
