Graveside services for Lillian Bailey, 81, were at 2 p.m. today in Parklawn Memorial Gardens with Dennis Hartley, minister of Dare to Believe Ministry Outreach, officiating. Arrangements were by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mrs. Bailey died Monday, Oct. 24, 2005, in Covenant Hospital. She was born April 4, 1924, in Clovis, N.M., the daughter of Mary Green and Joseph Benjamin Whitener. She moved to Plainview in 1979 and had worked as a residential painter. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and Seth Ward Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Rosie Ann Heyen of Washington state; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Her husband, Durwood Bailey, died in 1987 and a son, Rocky Dean Purpner, died in 1998. Two brothers and three sisters also are deceased.
