ABERNATHY - Graveside services for Wendell F. Attebury, 60, of New Deal, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Abernathy Cemetery with the Rev. Jeff Petillo, minister of music and youth at First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be by Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Mr. Attebury died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at Lubbock's University Medical Center. He ws born May 23, 1941, in Lubbock County. He was a longtime Lubbock area resident and had served on the New Deal school board. He had previously been employed by the Texas Correctional Facility in Brownwood and also was a farmer. Survivors include three daughters, Tammy Johnson of Denver, Colo., Kimberly Thiel of Lubbock and Regina O'Steen of Houston; three brothers, James Attebury of Lubbock and T.J. Attebury and David Attebury, both of Abernathy; two sisters, Kathleen Howell of Anton and June Pate of Atlanta; and four grandchildren, Whitney and Candace Thiel, Chris Johnson and Kaycee O'Steen. The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
