Obituary

Eleodoro "Leo" Arteaga, 88, of Plainview passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2009, in Lubbock. Funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2009, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Reymundo Manriquez officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today, Thursday, April 30, 2009, at the funeral home. Mr. Arteaga was born May 1, 1920, to Juan and Beatrice Arteaga. He married Leonor Arteaga on March 1, 1952. He was a lifetime resident of Plainview and worked for Sante Fe Railroad for 24 years. Mr. Arteaga was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Leonor Arteaga; three daughters, Ermalinda Baeza, Norma Arteaga and Cindy Arteaga, all of Plainview; eight sons, John Arteaga of Mendoza, Ill., Henry Arteaga of Plainview, Oscar Arteaga of Plainview, David Arteaga of Plainview, Peter Arteaga of Plainview, Eleodoro Arteaga Jr. of Odessa, Edward Arteaga of Hobbs, N.M., and Reyes Arteaga of Plainview; 21 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Beatrice Arteaga; one brother, Pedro "Pete" Arteaga; and one granddaughter, Gabrieal "Gabby" Arteaga.
