Obituary

Linda Arnold, age 97, passed away Friday, Oct 9, 2009, in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at Seth Ward Baptist Church under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home. Pastor Jim Ritter will officiate and interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Open visitation will be held on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at Lemons Funeral Home. Linda Elsie Blok was born Jan. 28, 1912, in Kalamazoo, Mich., to Jacob and Adrianna (Singeles) Blok. Linda worked as a nurse's aid for many years. She was a member of Seth Ward Baptist Church where she had served as the Rebekah Sunday School teacher for many years along with being the past WMU president and was very involved in the church choir. She read her Bible daily and enjoyed leading Bible studies. Linda also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cross stitching and doing crossword puzzles. She was an especially loving grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her four granddaughters and their families. She was preceded in death by parents; her husband, John Arnold; a daughter, Sheila Arnold; and brother-in-law, Edgar Arnold. Linda is survived by her granddaughter, Paulinda Gibson and husband Dale of Halfway and their children, Jennifer, Ricky and Chelsey; her granddaughter, Nikki Langston and husband Bobby of Plainview and their children, Sha and Shawn; her granddaughter, Bonni Arnold-Thomason and husband Scott of Lubbock and their children, Avery and Addisson; her granddaughter, Mary Ellen Devin and husband Lyndan of Plainview and their children, Tasha, T.J. and Meagan; great-great-grandchildren, Shane, Riley and Mia; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Wright. Memorials in Linda Arnold's name may be made to Seth Ward Baptist Church in Plainview.
