Memorial services for Louise Adel "Lisa" Arnold, 87, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Lemons Memorial Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Her body was donated to Texas Tech University Medical School. Mrs. Arnold died at 10:40 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2002, in Covenant Hospital Plainview. She was born March 15, 1915, in Whitney where she grew up and attended schools. She graduated from Baylor University and taught art in Oklahoma City and Washington, D.C. and had lived in Plainview since 1967. She taught art at Coronado Junior High School and children?s art classes at Wayland Baptist University. She donated a Christmas tree, complete with ornaments made by children in her art classes, each year to the Museum of the Llano Estacado. Mrs. Arnold was a member of Chapter BL, PEO, an charter member of the Plains Art Association, a member of the National Art Teachers Association and the Plainview Cultural Arts Council. She won numerous awards in a wide variety of fine arts competitions. She was the first recipient, with the late Faye Curry, of the Plainview Cultural Council?s Silver Star Award. She also made it possible for several local students to complete their education and return to PISD to teach. She was a member of First Baptist Church. On May 29, 1938, she married Guy Arnold in Fort Worth. He died Sept. 11, 1970. Survivors include a nephew, Travis Cox of Seguine. A brother, George B. Cox, and a sister, Effie Mae Kerr, are deceased.
