Adan Arellano,79, of Plainview passed away at his home on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, surrounded by his family. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at St. Alice Catholic Church. Interment will follow the service in Plainview Memorial Park. Funeral service arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Adan N. Arellano was born Jan. 4, 1932, in Alice, Texas, to Jorge and Guada?lupe Arellano. He and Elvira Gonzales were married Oct. 15, 1955, in Hillsboro, Texas. Adan worked as a farmhand until 1968, when he began working at Jack Morris Ford. He worked there from 1968 until 1971. In 1971, Adan then began a 22-year career at Excel/Cargill, where he retired in 1993 as foreman of the maintenance department. Adan enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, fishing and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Adan was preceded in death by his parents, Jorge and Guadalupe Arellano; three brothers, Aurturo Arellano, Hijino Arellano and Joe Arellano; and one sister, Guadalupe Ballejo. Adan is survived by his wife of almost 56 years, Elvira, of the home; their children, Delores Gutierrez and her husband, Demetrio; Delma Soliz, all of Amarillo; Adam Arellano and his wife, Delia, of Round Rock, Texas; Andrew Arellano and his wife, Estella, of Canyon, Texas; Debbie Garcia and her husband, Rudy, of Plainview; 13 grandchildren: Gilbert Gutierrez and his wife, Stephanie; Lori Flores and her husband, Joe; Christene Rodriguez; Lisa Bishop and her husband, Jeff; Rachelle Stevens and her husband, Ben; Christopher Soliz; Adrin Arellano; Christal Clayton and her husband, Chris; Ashley Charo and her husband, Dwayne; Bryan Garcia; Brittany Garcia; Charissa Arellano; and Andrea Arellano; 15 great-grandchildren: Breanna Rodriguez, Alyssa Rodriguez, Adam Arellano, Lorissa Flores, Gabriella Bishop, Vanessa Flores, Cal Bishop, Lia Gutierrez, Cainan Shepard, Kamrin Gutierrez, Calen Clayton, Aiden Gutierrez, Kevin Stevens, Carter Clayton and Baby Girl Charo, who is on the way. Adan is also survived by three brothers, George Arellano, Epifanio Arellano and Armando Arellano; five sisters, Conception Villanueva, Christina Quintanilla, Victoria Silvas, Aurora Pena and Carmen Arellano; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Area Community Hospice for their loving care of Adan.
