Obituary

HALE CENTER - Funeral Mass for Procopio C. Aragon, 85, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Theresa?s Catholic Church with the Rev. David Cruz, pastor at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Lubbock, officiating. Burial will be in Hale Center Cemetery by Freeman-Abell Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today in the same church. Mr. Aragon died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, in Amarillo. He was born on Jan. 10, 1917, in Las Vegas, N.M. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II from 1941 to 1945.
He worked for Friona ISD and the City of Friona, retiring in 1983. He moved to Hale Center after retirement and was a member of St. Theresa?s Catholic Church On July 18, 1953, he married Margaret Gonzales in Bovina. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Leo Aragon and Jesse Aragon, both of Friona, Phillip Aragon of Duncan, Okla., and Barnabe Aragon of Amarillo; three daughters, Rosemary Madrid of Amarillo, Agnes Saiz of Kingsland and Angela Aragon of Hale Center; two brothers, Rosendo Aragon of Canyon and Pete Aragon of Canyon; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
