Obituary

Funeral Mass for Dr. John Peter Andrews, 80, will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Alice Catholic Church with the Rev. Jim McCartney, pastor, and the Rev. Gerard Kenney, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Lemons Funeral Home.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in Memorial Chapel at Lemons Funeral Home.

Dr. Andrews died at 6:32 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 7, 1922, in Boston, Mass. where he grew up. He graduated from English High School in Boston and attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also attended Texas Tech University then graduated from Northern Illinois College of Optometry.

He was a major in the U.S. Air Force, serving with the 17th Bombardment Group/Wing, 37th Squadron.

He practiced optometry in Plainview for 50 years and was a member of St. Alice Catholic Church.

On June 24, 1946, he married Dorothy Collins in Big Spring.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Dr. Elizabeth Ann Andrews of San Francisco, Calif.; two sons, John Collins Andrews of Austin and James P. Andrews of San Marcos; a brother, Frank Andruszkiewicz of Boston; and a grandson, Daryl Andrews of Austin.

Two brothers, Tony Andrews and Stanley Andruszkiewicz, a sister, Josephine Andruszkiewicz, and his parents, Anthony and Anthonine Andruszkiewicz, are deceased.

The family suggests memorials to Plainview Senior Citizens, 1107 Smyth, Plainview, TX 79072; or to VistaCare Hospice, 4418 Olton Road, Plainview, TX 79072.
