ABERNATHY ? Funeral services for James B. Anderson, 73, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Wilcox, pastor, and David Bennett, minister of the Church of Christ, officiating.

Burial will be in Abernathy Cemetery by Abell Funeral Home.

Mr. Anderson died Wednesday, May 12, 1999, in Covenant Medical Center.

He was born July 24, 1925, in Abernathy. He graduated from Abernathy High School and attended Texas. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served on a destroyer during World War II.

He was a carpenter and helped build and repair churches in Abernathy and New Mexico. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge 1148.

On Sept. 20, 1948, he married Bertelle Herndon in Fort Worth.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Andre Anderson of Lubbock, Ricky Anderson of Abernathy and Peter Anderson of Brownfield; a daughter, Vicki Anderson of Houston; a brother, Olen Anderson of Abernathy; a sister, Betty Griswald of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
