Obituary

Graveside services for Ellen Anderson, 91, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Plainview Cemetery with Jack Godfrey officiating. Burial arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors in Canyon. Ms. Anderson died Wednesday, April 21, 2004, in Canyon. She was born April 10, 1913, in Dawson County, Ga., the daughter of Lester and Martha Anderson. She moved with her family from Georgia to Texas in 1917 and they owned farms in Duke, Okla., and Lockney. She graduated from Lockney High School and attended beauty school in Lubbock. She worked as a beautician in Lockney and after moving to Plainview, owned Town and Country Beauty Shop, retiring in 1965. She moved to Canyon in 1996 and had lived at IHS of Canyon since 2000. Survivors include a sister, Elsie Peckham of Canyon; six nieces, Martha Alford of Canyon, Wanda Murdock of Dimmitt, Barbara Godfrey of Plainview, Gaylia Davis of Hart, Pat Knepp of Aztec, N.M., and LaVelle McDougal of Joshua; and three nephews, Charles Clyde Anderson of Iowa Park, Gayland Anderson of Lubbock and W.H. Felder of Sunray. Four brothers, Clay, Clyde, Milt and Raymond Anderson, and two sisters, Nellie Felder and Mozelle Durham, are deceased.
