Obituary

Juan P. Amaya, 59, of Plainview died Thursday, July 19, 2012.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2012, at the First Assembly Of God Church with Pastor Nelson Gonzalez officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lemons Funeral Home.
Juan was born Dec. 25, 1952, in Plainview to Eddie and Juanita Amaya. He was raised in Olton where he attended Olton High School.
He moved to Plainview in 1988 where he resided until his death.
Most of Juan's working life was spent as a truck driver. He always enjoyed being on the road and seeing the sights as he travelled the countryside.
In his spare time he enjoyed working on carpentry projects, fishing at Greenbelt Lake and his music.
Juan especially loved playing his guitar for hours at a time.
Juan was an active member of First Assembly of God Church where he drove the bus for the children's ministry.
The most special thing in his life was his love and concern for his family.
Juan is survived by his wife, Mary Moralez of Plainview; his father, Eddie Amaya of Plainview; three sons, Juan Amaya Jr. of Plainview, Galvino Amaya of Hereford and Johnny Joe Amaya of Canyon; one daughter, Melissa Ramirez of Plainview; four brothers, Roy Amaya of Plainview, David Amaya of Plainview, Alex Amaya of Plainview and Ernest Amaya of Olton; three sisters, Yolanda Amaya of Edmonson, Margaret Samarripa of Olton and Isabell Amaya of Temple; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
