Obituary

Funeral services for Jerry Wayne Alvis, 67, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Seth Ward Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Ritter officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Alvis died Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, in Lubbock. He was born April 18, 1940, in Hopkins County. He moved to Plainview in 1944 and married Joyce Smith in 1971. He worked at Harvest Queen Mill from 1973-90. Survivors include his wife; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Tammy Bolding, Paula and Scott Voyles, and Shelly and Joshua Samarripa, all of Plainview; two brothers, James Alvis and Jackie Alvis, both of Plainview; two sisters, Diane Patridge of Plainview and Jeannette Akin of Murchison; and three grandchildren. His parents, W.C. and Dolly Mae Alvis; a nephew, Chris Alvis; and a son-in-law, Jeff Bolding, are deceased. The family will receive friends and family on from 2-3 p.m. today at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview
