Obituary

Ricardo "Jaime" Alvarez, 67, of Plainview was called home to be with the Lord on Aug. 9, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Arsenio Redulla officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A rosary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Alvarez was born Feb. 7, 1946, in Donna, Texas, to Miguel and Maria Del Refugia Alvarez. He married Maria Belen Zuniga on Dec. 22, 1967, in Donna. Mr. Alvarez worked at Cargill for 41 years and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mr. Alvarez is survived by his wife, Maria Belen Alvarez of Plainview; two daughters, Noelia Garza and husband George of Plainview, and Graciela Alvarez and Keith Shannon of Kress; three sons, Daniel Alvarez and wife Maria of Riverside, Calif., Richard Alvarez, Jr. of Plainview and Jaime Ernest Alvarez of Plainview; four brothers, Gregorio Alvarez of Austin, Lionel Alvarez of Houston, Miguel Alvarez of Houston and Roberto Alvarez of North Dakota; one sister, Santos Solis of Riverside, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
