Funeral Mass for Romana Alvarez, 64, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with the Rev. Raymundo Manriquez, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Alvarez died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, at her residence. She was born Feb. 28, 1942, in O'Brien to Gumecindo Ybarra and Maria Gomez Ybarra. She married Benito Alvarez in November 1961, in Clovis, N.M. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Benito Alvarez Jr., and Carmen of Floydada, Enrique Alvarez of Lockhart and Esteban Gonzalez of Denver, Colo.; one daughter and son-in-law, Yrene and Eliodoro Ruiz of Round Rock; three brothers, Eleno Ybarra and Teodoro Ybarra, both of Hereford, and Antonio Ybarra of Indiana; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her parents; and one son, Antonio Alvarez, are deceased.
