Obituary

Funeral services for Clarice W. Green Alley, 88, of Plainview will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Bartley Memorial Chapel with Ron Huckeby officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. Clarice passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014, in Plano, Texas. She was born Aug. 4, 1925, in Plainview to Clarence and Hazel Green. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1942. She attended Lippert's Business College. She entered U.S. Cadet Nurses Corps at Lubbock Memorial Hospital from 1944 to 1947 and spent her last three months at nurse's training at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston in psychiatry. She received a post-graduate degree in psychiatry at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia for six months in 1949. She was supervisor of Adair Hospital in Clarendon from 1961 to 1962, supervisor at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Breckenridge, Texas, for six years and worked at the Veterans Hospital in Big Spring for three years. She worked many years at the Hospital Clinic Foundation in Plainview. She was office manager at Wallace Funeral Home in Tulia from 1977 to 1994, where her husband Don Alley was part owner and manager with Blake Wood and Kenneth Dunning. She is survived by one son, Chris Alley and wife Juanette of Plano; grandson Nicholas Todd Alley of Plano; granddaughter Marisa Clair Alley of Plano; brother-in-law Earl Beck of Dumas; and sister-in-law Lou Alley Howard of Plainview. She is preceded in death by her husband, Don Alley, and two sisters, Mary Lea Sisemore and Janet Marie Beck.
