Allen,William Horace, Sr.

Graveside services for William Horace Allen Sr., 82, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Plainview Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Hernandez, pastor of Primera Iglesia Bautista, officiating.

Burial arrangements are by Lemons Funeral Home.

Mr. Aleen died at 2:50 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, 2003, in the Vetrans Administration Hospital in Amarillo.

He was born May 28, 1921, in Mt. Enterprise. He grew up in Jacksonville. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. After his discharge, he moved to Plainview and farmed for many years.

In 1941, he married Mauda Lee Smiley in Carthage. She deied Jan. 1, 1980.

Survivors inclue one daughter, Benita Allen of Wichita Falls; four sons, WIlliam H. Allen Jr. of Plainview, Walter R. Allen of Tulia, Johnny L. Allen of Des Moines, Iowa, and James C. Allen of Lubbock; four sisters, Lillie Bell Allen, Faye Chester, Emma Phillips, and Gracie Walker; 25 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and several other family members.

A daughter, Cherry Lousie Johnson, and four brothers are deceased.
