Howard "Duck" Alderson, 48, of Hale Center passed away Saturday, March 5, 2011, in Hale Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Doug Yates officiating. Burial will follow in Hale Center Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors. A visitation for family and friends will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Mr. Alderson was born Aug. 18, 1962, in Dallas, Texas. He worked at Kernell Auto Sales for 17 years until retiring from there in September 2010. He had been working very hard on opening his own BBQ Place in Hale Center. He was preceded in death by his mother, Christene, and a niece, Lora. Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Sherrie Alderson of Hale Center; his children, Kristy and husband Ray Mendoza of Plainview and Charity Alderson of Hale Center; his grandchildren, Ali Mendoza, Zayden Mendoza, Macie Mendoza and Zachary Mendoza; his sisters, Glenda Garza of Plainview and Darla and husband Frank of New Braunfels; his brothers, Randy and wife Amber Alderson of Alabama and Larry and wife Cindy Marion of Princeton, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
