Obituary

Gonzalo Alcala Jr. 50, of Plainview, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 28, 2013 while surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at First Assembly of God with the Rev. Nelson Gonzalez officiating and the Rev. Manuel Rodriguez assisting. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A rosary will be held from 6-7 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2013, at the funeral home. Gonzalo was born on March 6, 1963, to Gonzalo Sr. and Esperanza Alcala in Guadalajara, Mexico. He married Irma Botello on Dec. 20, 1980, in Juarez, Mexico. He worked at Cargill for 15 years before joining his brother in the carpentry business. He cherished his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. Above all else, he was a child of God and spent the rest of his life winning souls over to our Lord and Savior. He was a member of Plainview First Assembly. He is preceded in death by his father, Gonzalo Alcala Sr. He is survived his wife, Irma Alcala; four daughters, Jessica Alcala of Amarillo, Janette Alcala and fianc? Paul Gonzales, Jacqueline Ramirez and husband Aaron, and Julianne Alcala, all of Plainview; his mother, Esperanza Alcala of Plainview; six sisters, Juanita Vela, Bertha Martinez and husband Raul, Elizabeth Thompson, Herminia Zuniga and husband Efren, Esperanza Cantu and husband Rosendo, and Sandra Alcala, all of Plainview; three brothers, Manuel Alcala, Alfredo Alcala and wife Norma, and Pablo Alcala and wife Isabelle, all of Plainview; and seven grandchildren, Ariana, Anthony and Aryeh Ramirez, Kylie Hudson and Kaelon Gonzales, and Trenton and Phoenix Ceniceros.
