Obituary

Funeral Mass for Maximo Alanis, 89, will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Arsenio Redulla officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Alanis died Monday, April 20, 2009, in Plainview. He was born April 5, 1920, in Rio Grande Valley to Jose and Cira Alanis. He married Ernestina Delgado on June 7, 1944, in Weslaco. She died Dec. 14, 1984. He worked for Gifford Hill for many years and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Survivors include one daughter, Mary Negrete of Plainview; one son, Frank Delgado of San Antonio; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. His wife; two daughters, Paula Saucedo and Janie Doyle; one brother, Lupe Alanis; and three sisters, Natalia Guajardo, Juana Alanis and Paula Rivera, are deceased
