Aguirre, Juan L. (John)

Abernathy-- Funeral Mass for Juan L. "John" Aguirre, 83, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. Isidore Catholic Church with the Rev. Arnold Bravo, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Abernathy Cemetery by Abell Funeral Home.

Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today in the same church.

Mr. Aguirre died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, in Plainview.

He was born Feb. 12, 1920, in Pleasanton and moved to Abernathy in 1955. He was a farmer for many years and a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church and Crusillistas.

On Sept. 8, 1941, he married Maria Ignacia Gill in Floresville. She is deceased.

Survivors include four sons, John Joe Aguirre of Abernathy, Adam Aguirre of Lubbock, Tony Aguirre of Hale Center and Santos Aguirre of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three daugthers, Frances Perez and Lucy Garza, both of Abernathy, and Lydia Hernandez of Denver City; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A granddaughter, four sisters and two brothers also are deceased.
