Obituary

Maria Aguilera, age 84, of Plainview passed away on Jan. 7, 2015. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainview with Father Arsenio Redulla officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Lemons Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Maria was born on July 10, 1930, in Bel?n, Mexico, to Ambrosio and Maria Ortega Navarro. Maria married Epifanio Aguilera on June 13, 1949, in Bel?n, Mexico. They moved to Kress in 1966 and then to Plainview a few years later. Maria loved gardening. She was a kind and generous woman who put her faith and family first in her life. Maria was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainview. She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 18, 2003; four sons, infants Daniel and Jorge, and Daniel Aguilera Sr. and Jorge Aguilera; a daughter Eva Aguilera; a brother Julian Navarro; and two sisters, Ignacia Ruiz and Epifania Caldera. She is survived by two sons, Juan and his wife Emilia Aguilera of Edmonson, Texas, and Rafael and his wife Maria Aguilera of Lubbock; a daughter Lucy Aguilera of Plainview; and a daughter-in-law Elizabeth Aguilera of Lubbock.
