Obituary

Maria Guadalupe "Lupita" Salas, 72, of Plainview, departed this earthly life and entered heaven's gates on November 9, 2020. Services will be held on Monday, November 16, 2020 at Bartley Memorial Chapel at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. A rosary is scheduled for Sunday, November 15, 2020 from 6-8 p.m. at Bartley Funeral Home.

Lupita was born on March 24, 1948 to Pascual and Amelia (Castro) Flores in Coahuila, Mexico. She married Miguel Salas on December 15, 1968 in Mexico. They then moved to west Texas and built their life together.

Lupita was a long time member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She had a strong faith and loved her church. She was known to be strong minded who stood firm in her beliefs. She loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed watching them grow. Her rice and tamales will be very much missed as she was such a amazing cook. She enjoyed needlepointing and sewing but her passion was gardening and taking care of her plants.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandma, aunt, and friend.

Those left to cherish her memory is her husband; Miguel Salas of Plainview, her children; Maria Garcia and husband, David, of Plainview, Miguel Salas and wife, Martina, of Plainview, Lucy Salas of Plainview, and Elizabeth Trevino and husband, Billy, of Lubbock, brothers; Salvador Flores and wife, Hortencia, of Mexico, Raymundo Flores and wife, Juanita, of Mexico, Librabo Flores and wife, Consuela, of Mexico, Antonio Flores and wife, Estella, of Plainview, and Pascual Flores and wife, Maribel, of Plainview, sisters; Maria Del Luz Chavarria of Mexico and Lydia Sifuentes and husband Fernando of Hale Center.

Lupita was also blessed with 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Pascual and Amelia (Castro) Flores, a son; Jose Guadalupe Salas, brother; Manuel Flores, and a sister; Amelia Ruiz.
