Obituary

Ovidia G. Rubio Vallejo, 83, of Plainview, TX, passed from this life on May 23, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 29th, 2020 at Bartley Memorial Chapel located at Bartley Funeral Home with Terry Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Plainview Memorial Park.

Ovidia was born on May 17, 1937 in Realitos, Texas to Abraham and Petra (Salazar) Garza. She married Ruben Rubio Sr. on March 24, 1952 in Alice, Texas. After his death in 1980, Ovidia married Anselmo “Sam” Vallejo Jr. She worked as a nurses aid for over 15 years as well as a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing and would make clothes for her children growing up. She loved to travel and visit family often. Above all, Ovidia was a woman of God. She was a very involved member of the Pentecostal church. She would bring scripture, song, and loved teaching His word. She will be remembered as the rock of her family, a loving mother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Those left to cherish her memory are four sons; Ruben Rubio Jr. and wife, Debbie, of Stover, Mo, Rudy Rubio and wife, Maria, of Toledo, OH, and Richard O. Rubio and wife, Maria, of Canyon, TX, two daughters; Becky R. Branderhorst and husband, Michael of West Concord, MN and Diana R. Moreno and husband, Manuel, of Plainview, Texas, a sister; Gloria Menendez and husband, Elias, of McAllen, TX. Ovidia was also blessed with 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husbands; Ruben Rubio Sr and Anselmo “Sam” Vallejo Jr.., her parents, two sons; Domingo and Robert Rubio, three sisters; Maria Perez, Soveida Garza, and Emelia Olivo, and one brother; Abraham Garza.
