Obituary

Antonia Castillo, 90, of Plainview passed away September 24, 2022. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. with Deacon Manuel Marin officiating. Interment will follow at Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

A Rosary will be held at 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Plainview.

Antonia was born on October 20, 1931 to Abigal and Marta Espinosa. At an early age she was a DJ in Junction, Texas. She loved puzzles and teaching bilingual kids. She loved to sew and take care of all of her grandchildren which were her pride and joy. She prepared church bulletins at Saint Theresa Catholic Church in Friona, Texas. She enjoyed watching cooking shows and loved her Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys. She married Matilde Castillo on January 19, 1956.

Antonia is preceded in death by her parents, Abigal and Martha Espinosa; her husband, Matilde Vela Castillo; her daughters, Alison Mercado and Martha Branson; son in law, Glen Branson; her sisters, Rosie Dellos Santos, Maria Menchaca, Juanita Menchaca and Gloria Espinosa; her brothers, Joe Espinosa and Monte Espinosa.

Antonia is survived by her daughters, Lupe Castillo of Plainivew, Texas and Mary Gallardo of Plainview, her son Edward Castillo and wife JoAnn of Plainview, Texas; her grandchildren, Michael Castillo of Plainview, Lindsay Castillo and husband Daniel of Plainview, Brandon Castillo and wife Courtney of Plainview, Kayla Mercado and Nathan Cristan of Amarillo, Kimberly Pardes and husband Chris of Amarillo and Kristen Mercado of Albuquerque NM, and thirteen great grandchildren.
