Maria Isabel Hernandez Ramirez was born on November 5, 1937, in Crystal City, Texas to Edna Burrell and Raymundo Hernandez. She married Manuel Ramirez, Sr. on January 13, 1961 in Plainview. She worked numerous housekeeping jobs until she and her husband opened their own business, Ramirez Auto Sales in Plainview in 1978 until their retirement in 2002. Her devotion was to her husband of 52 years and her children & grandchildren.

Maria is survived by two daughters: Frances Barrera & husband Joe of Plainview and Dr. Edna Garcia & husband Dr. Ricardo Garcia of Tulia; two sons: Manuel Ramirez, Jr. & wife Enedina Ramirez of Lubbock and Guadalupe “Wally” Ramirez of Lubbock; eight grandchildren: Jarred Anthony Barrera, Jovanna Alexis Barrera, Aaron Caleb Ramirez and wife Yeslin Ramirez, Ysabela Maria Ramirez, Emily Loraine Ramirez, Ricardo Isaiah Garcia, Anahliese Catarina Ramirez, and Ellymar Salomé Ramirez; one sister: Josie Lopez of San Antonio and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her purpose here on earth was to serve others, from the time she dedicated her life to the Lord she volunteered working in the nursery at Primera Iglesia Mexicana Bautista, Plainview. Despite her lack of formal education in reading and writing she managed to teach the little children about Jesus Christ. When she was not in the nursery, she would be in the kitchen helping prepare meals for special occasions. She also enjoyed partnering with First Baptist Church on mission trips to Mexico as an interpreter and cook. Maria was a faithful member of Abundant Grace Church Plainview. She enjoyed volunteering each year with Vacation Bible School; she became a grandmother to many children and young people that would attend church alone. She always made you feel welcomed and important. Maria is most remembered as a servant of Christ; her daily prayer life was especially important to her. She was known as a prayer warrior and people looked to her for prayer. Maria was a blessing to all she came across. She touched many and her legacy of faith will live on through her children and grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Abundant Grace Church, 1011 N I27, Plainview, TX 79072.
