Lesal Wayne McNutt, 89, of Plainview went to be with his Lord on Thursday, August 4, 2022. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 11, 2022 at the Plainview First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Doug Yates officiating.
He was born on January 23, 1933 to Ola Pearl Looney and Lester Lee McNutt in Stuart, OK. Where he lived his childhood before moving to Plainview, TX. Lesal was the oldest of two sons and one daughter. He served in the U.S. Military for two years and he entered just at the end of the Korean War and served in South Korea working on the road construction crew. In 1973, he started a career with the City of Plainview where he retired after 25 years of serving the citizens of Plainview. Lesal never married, but was the greatest uncle to his one niece and three nephews and a large host of great nieces and nephews. He loved to tease and play jokes on them all and he could often be found in the stands supporting them in their sports events, school events and church related events. He would often take one or two of his nephews or niece with him on his vacation. He loved to spend time playing board or card games with them. He would also play catch or any other activity they chose. He loved family and love to be a part of family events. He was a great friend to many and gave of himself to help others. He attended the Plainview First Church of the Nazarene. He loved to fellowship with others while playing board games and talking about his beloved Dallas Cowboys. Growing up he was known to have had some of the best cars of the times. He also helped his parents with their businesses; East Side Grocery & Gas Station, McNutt Grocery and the Furniture Barn. He will be missed especially during the holiday seasons as he was always present to share in laughter, joy and games of the season. He also loved the annual McNutt family reunion and any gathering on the Looney side where he would reunite with all those family members he grew up with and reminisce about ole times with a lot of laughter, joking and just great family fun.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Eldon McNutt and sister Barbara Sue. Lesal is survived by his sister-in-law Gloria McNutt of Amarillo; one niece, Donna Nelson and husband Marty of Amarillo; three nephews: Harold McNutt and wife Karen of Hereford, Larry McNutt and wife Kathy of Eufaula, OK., Garlan McNutt and wife Shelley of Capitan, NM.; seven great nieces, four great nephews and 21 great great nieces and nephews.
