Obituary

Joe H. Settle, 89, of Plainview passed away on July 23, 2022. Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Doug Yates officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, July 25, 2022 at First Church of the Nazarene.

Joe was born August 7, 1932 in Dimmitt, Texas to Clarence Edgar “Bud” & Lois Valentine (Chambers) Settle. He married Roberta Looney on March 10, 1951 in Clovis, NM. He was a loving father and grandfather as well as a favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews. He raised his 3 boys and then 3 grandkids. Joe loved going to the lake, always having a house full of kids and he loved to square dance. Joe loved having gatherings for playing joker with his friends from the Good Sam’s travel club. His hobby was sewing baby blankets for anyone who was expecting a baby. He had a heart of gold and loved unconditionally. His favorite saying was “I’m doing pretty good for a young fella”. Joe owned and operated Joe Settle Garage for over 40 years. He was a lifetime member of the First Church of the Nazarene Plainview.

Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Settle; two sons, Timothy Joe Settle and Ricky Lee Settle.

He is survived by his son, Danny Roy Settle; three grandchildren that he raised, Aaron Settle, Jayme Wetzel and Kristi Settle; seven other grandchildren; twenty nine great grandchildren; nineteen great-great grandchildren; one sister, Eula Austin and one brother, Jim Settle.
