Obituary

Richard A. Borchardt, 91, formerly of Plainview passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 6, 2022 in the Kornerstone Chapel with Lewis D. McClain officiating. Burial will follow in the Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

Richard will be available for viewing starting on Wednesday afternoon until service time so you may come and go as you, please.

Richard was born on September 29, 1930 in Harlingen, Texas. He grew up in Hale Center and attended schools there. He entered the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. After his service to his country, he returned home and farmed with his father. Richard married Neva Dean McClain on August 1, 1954 in Plainview. He later went to work for Energas (Atmos Energy) for 29 ½ years before retiring in 1987. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Reinhold Max Borchardt; brother, Kenneth Ray Borchardt; sister, Opal Winona Williams; and a son-in-law, Cliff Martin

He is survived by his wife Neva Dean Borchardt; three children, Rodney Borchardt and wife Ella of Amarillo, Lynn Borchardt and wife Brenda of Amarillo, Annetta Borchardt Martin of Amarillo; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
