Obituary

Cleburn Annett, 89, of Plainview passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at the First Christian Church with Rev. Richard Dye officiating. Burial will follow in the Plainview Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday evening at Kornerstone from 6 to 8 P.M.

Cleburn was born on September 29, 1932 in Chicota, Texas to W.H. and Ida Lee Annett. He grew up in Chicota and attended school there and was a member of the Chicota Basketball Team. He married Emma Carey Davis on Nov. 28, 1952 in Plainview. Cleburn served in the U.S. Army. He then worked for Atmos Energy for 25 plus years before retiring. He served as a school monitor at Ash and Estacado and also drove a school bus for several years. Cleburn was an Elder of First Christian Church, a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Elks Lodge.

Cleburn was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edgar Annett, Edward Annett; four sisters, Florence Draper, Betty Morgan, Billie Ruth Hickman, Martha Hamman.

Survivors include his wife Emma Annett of Plainview; two daughters, Margaret Annett Betterton of Katy, Debra Annett of Clinton, OK; two grandchildren, Melanie Leigh Shelton and husband Timothy of Katy, Kyle David Betterton of Katy; one great granddaughter, Makenna Paige Shelton of Katy; sister, Jean Dodd of Comanche; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog Chuy.
